Unclimbed Machu Peak

Machu 6,630 m is a stunning peak in Hisper valley of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan in Karakoram range. Peter Thompson and Aiden Laffey, mountaineers from Britian attempted Machu in last summer in June 2017. Machu is a peak yet to be summitted . The British climbers set their base camp at 4,442 meters near some shepherd huts.

Their aim was to climb from southwest ridge and then through west ridge to the summit. They climbed up to 5,530 m to reach southwest ridge but heavy snowfall forced them to retreat, leaving tent behind on the ridge. They again tried in next days but at 5,650 m they found their way blocked by unavoidable rock peak and this forced them to retreat again.

Harsh weather conditions and dangers associated to alternate climbing route forced the Britsh climbers to abandon their attempt.
